LOCAL CUISINE
The season sets the table
Idaho may be famous for its potatoes, but in North Idaho, it’s all about seasonal cuisine inspired by the land and water. Locally-caught trout and kokanee salmon are popular on menus, along with game meats like elk and venison. In summer, fresh huckleberries are the season’s shining star, enhancing everything from pastries to cocktails and desserts with their irresistible sweet-tartness. Trust us, you’re going to become hooked. Foraged mushrooms, locally-grown herbs, and local honey are more summertime staples across the region.
Love to dine out? Coeur d’Alene’s restaurants offer a little bit of everything, from diner-style fare and elevated pub food to wood-fired pizzas, Latin-inspired delights, and hearty steaks and sausages. Whether it’s a date-night or a family outing, a post-hike breakfast or an après-ski appetizer you’re after, the region’s dining scene delights with its mix of both casual and elevated options—always with a friendly dose of Idaho hospitality.
